Music Or Lose It

 Music to Lose It

by Krystal

Certain types of music can help you do everything from eat slower, to drive better than you usually do on long trips. Below is your cheat sheet to using music to help you:

Think More Clearly:

Hip-Hop

Music with heavy drums can even improve our mathematical skills, for a bonus tap your food along to strengthen that part of your brain !.

Lose Weight:

Slow/calm Music

slow music can help you eat slower, thereby helping you recognize when you are full, thereby allowing you to bypass seconds and feel full longer.

Drive Better:

Pop/Rock

Pop/Rock music helps us stay more alert and focused on our surroundings.

Improve Memory:

classical

Classical music can help improve memory and retention of new information, so listen to it while studying.

Express yourself:

instrumental music

your brain will work hard to think up new ideas for both yourself, and for variations on the song that you are listening too (great for songwriters).

Special note for Emotional Eaters:

Listen to music more often, especially when you are NOT eating. Take the time to think of how you are feeling, and create a play list that expresses that. You can also create a play list that makes you feel better, for example when you're sad listen to a set of happier (or inspirational) songs. Another cool idea is to get dramatic, when you are “a little sad” listen to overly melancholy songs to express your emotions on a grand scheme (suggestions: Amy Winehouse, Otis Redding).

Worked for me Link

One day when I felt a bit bummed i listend to Amy Winehouse and Otis Redding back to back. There was something about their dramatic portrayal of the pain that I was experiencing that helped me get over it.
