Howdy !

Im a 24 year old stict-vegetarian, and i live in the midwest. I have one pet, a cat named Whisper-Jean. I stuggled with my weight as a teenager, but thanks to the Michael Thurmound 6-week body makeover plan I learned how to eat healthy and have since maintained by my weight-loss with a healthy eating and fitness lifestyle.

Why I Became Vegetarian

While watching the BBC show "You Are What You Eat"  I learned that our typical way of eating is unhealthy for more than just our weight, but the actual function and longetivy of our bodies. Viewing how things like fast-food, sugar, butter, and bread affect our body I became determined to inculde more vegetables into my diet. Still, the idea of giving up meat never crossed my mind.

That until I began reading an article on Mariah Carey's weight-loss plan. I having grown up in Long Isand, Ny mintues from Mariah Carey's home town have always been a fan of the singer. I felt like though I looked healthy, it'd have been nice to lose a few pounds. I studied her diet carefully which has large quanities of vegetables, but only 1 serving of meat per day. Shocked I thought to myself: "One Serving, can I do this ?!". I was sure that having only one serving of meat was not healthy, at least not without some other meat substitute like "tofu" in ones diet. So I hit the bookstore and picked up a Vegan Cookbook. I learned ways of making so many dishes that I decided that  her "one serving of meat per day" plan wasn't necessary. I am an Aries and therefore pretty "all or nothing", I figured that if i could have one serving of meat, i might as well give up all meat and become a vegetarian.

In the beginning i made the mistake of  thinking meat-less meant "calorie free". I made large plates of pasta (protine enriched) and veggies with calorie laden sauces. I added canola and olive oil to my veggies, dressings, and salads constantly. Not because I enjoyed the taste of oil, but because i worried that i wasn't getting enough health fat in my diet. As the number on the scale went "up" not down, I realized that it'd be smart to seek out a "proven" plan for vegetarian weight-loss and nutrition. I originally lost 81 pounds on the Michael Thurmound 6-week body makeover diet plan, and to my suprise there was a vegetarian version of the plan available. I pulled out my old 6wbmo information, and restarted the vegetarian version of the plan.

Not only does the plan help you lose weight, but it ensures that you recieve the right amount of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients for your body. In fact, I think the plan is great for people that want to eat healthy on their vegan/vegetarian diet while maintaining their weight.
