Fit Or Fake ?

So recently I posed a question to some fellow fitness friends: “Does dieting make you feel fake”, and to my surprise I've found that most dieters are confident about their weight-loss goals being “for health” reasons only. Now I'm not calling those “health reasons only” posters liars, however I'm simply aware of the fact that when summer rolls around most people focus on “looking” good, instead of maintaining their healthy cholesterol levels (especially for those under 30).

Yes, your health is a great reason to workout, however when was the last time that you said to yourself during a workout “look at my ab's, they are *so* slashing my risk of heart disease !” ?. Sure working out for appearance reasons doesn't sound noble, but if we're honest with ourselves most of us want to look hot. Besides, if your weight-loss plan is healthy, then your health will improve. Call me crazy for getting a jump-start on summer now (in November), but maintaining is much easier than freaking out in May about June coming up lol. We're all getting older, and next year I'll be 25 so having a rocking body is one of my birthday gifts to myself that will keep on giving.

Since most of us here are not virgins, lets also be honest about the affect fitness has on our sex lives. There is nothing hotter than being flexible, strong, and able to not require CPR after a few minutes due to lack of cardio fitness ha-ha. With this in mind, staying in shape is like a form of sexual liberation for those of us in committed relationships. Remember that Christina Aguilera “dirty” video ?, well she couldn't have worn that outfit if she was too out of shape to make it out of her trailer lol. For that reason, I think being in shape can make it easier to express your sexuality when in a relationship. I'm not just talking about having sex, but even in a long-distance relationship a picture is worth a thousand [sexy] words.

So, up until this morning I was unsure about if working out, dieting, and drinking mass amounts of water all in the name of having “sexy” follow our names was “fake” or not, until a poster commented that being fake is believing that we can eat “anything” without working out. She was right, working out and eating healthy is one of the most “honest” things that we can do to maintain our shape.

I do not hide that I eat healthy, nor that I work out an hour daily. However, I never realized that by admitting it I was being even more open with you all :-)
